Asafa Powell will compete in Beijing despite groin injury
Former 100 metres world record holder Asafa Powell will compete in Beijing despite suffering from groin strain in the run-up to the games.
Powel is tipped to compete with fellow Jamaican Usain Bolt and US sensation Tyson Gay for 100 metre gold at the Olympics.
Groin injuries
A sprinter like Asafa Powell is always suscepitble to groin pulls and strains because of the rapid lower body movement required.
Depending on the severity of the groin injury, athletes might need surgery to repair the damage or in less serious cases, rest and relaxation might be all that's required.
