I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome about 15 years ago, then it was defined as hypothyroidism. Last year I had a flair up and got so fatigued I couldn't ride or lift weights. I saw a holistic doctor who said that I had classic stress induced adrenal fatigue. (I had become extremely anxious before each ride, even casual ones, and my job had become very stressful.) She said in this case I depleted my cortisol in stress situations, which then taps into DHEA, and when that's depleted taps into testosterone. Since I had gone through that cycle fifteen years ago, I was more vulnerable this time. And she said rest alone won't bring recovery.
I've been put on a hormone supplemet program. I'm already feeling better overall, and hoping to start riding again, at least a little, by Christmas.
Has anyone had any of these experiences? Had any results?
Thanks for your feedback.
