Question: can you heal from complete ACL tear without having surgery?

Had ACL inury on July 3 complete tear, posterior horn tear and meniscus tears, Physician suggests just having physical therapy for 4 to 6 months, and see how I do, but, it keeps dislocating out even when i wear the brace.Also, had tibial plateau fracture with complete dislocation of knee.

Answer:

Sorry, a full ACL tear will never heal. I went through the same thing. Once it is completly torn there is no more blood flowing to the tissue, so it basically dies. I went with rehab and a brace, but never felt good. I went ahead and had ACL reconstruction, and was back to pretty much %100 in about a year. The rehab is tough, but it's worth it!
