I fell in my shower and hit a ledge just below my knee. It immediately swelled to twice the normal size. Bruising down to toes. I had an x-ray, no fracture. Leg measures same size as other. Bump just above where it hit, numb spot around injury and intense pain and sensitivity. I can walk but it is painful. If I roll over at night, it will sometimes wake me up. Doctor says everything is fine but this is over two weeks now. What did I do? And what should I do?

Hi there
I am an Australian Kinesiologist/sports therapist
You have damaged the Anterior Tibialis. This muscle runs from the lateral(outside) part of the leg, just below the knee, to the front, and from there to the inner edge of the foot, about 2" short of the toe.
When you pull the toes toward the knee this muscle will be visible next(lateral) to the lower legbone.
Massaging (gently) the muscle from center to insert and origin will help alleviate the pain. Vitamin C will help repair the tear and tendons. I recommend 2000 mg of Vit.C daily for a couple of months. Vitamin C has no known side effects, certainly not at that low level, but is very effective.
Good luck.
