I fell while bowling. I struck my tibia hard on the lane. I iced it quickly and it did not bruise, but it hurts badly with any pressure. It is right below my knee but the knee is fine. Is there any treatment for this other than RICE?

Hi there
I am an Australian Kinesiologist/sports therapist
The tibia doesn't seem to be fractured, but, just in case, Immobilise it for a week or two. I feel your problem is one of torn ligaments. Vitamin C, necessary in the production of collagen, from which ligaments are made of, will accelerate the healing processes, even if it is a fracture.
I would recommend 3000 mg of Vitamin C, and 50 mg of zinc on a daily basis, to boost the immune system. A dislocation or fracture would have affected the function of the knee.
Good luck
Hans

My husband made up a bone mending blend that solved my aching tibia bone which was broken Feb. 1978. This area has ached for the passed 30 years during the weather change until last year.
Essential oil drops in proportion of basil, cypress, wintergreen or birch, marjoram, and peppermint. Dr. Gary Young Essential Oils Interagative Guide

Try not to be standing for long periods as your bones heal. After an hour of standing, the same tibia bone can ache. Do stretching exercises once you have rested for the two week period as mentioned by another reader.
Best to you!
