I was doing legs at the Gym, and was on my first week back. I was doing 3 sets of 15 squats, plie squats, and stationary lunges. At the end of eac h set I pulsed for 15. I could feel the burn, but didn't feel the strain until a day or two later.My quad muscles feel tight when I bend my knee, and the outside of my knee hurts. When I kneel my knee is also very sensitive.aches more at bed, and seems to feel better as I exercise it.

The muscle involved is the vastus lateralis.
I think you have overdone it a bit with your training after an absence and have torn some fibers in the lower part of the muscle, near the tendon. give it a few days rest and take a Vitamin C supplement. At least 3000 mg a day to improve the healing and build collagen. Drink plenty of clean un chlorinated water to wash away toxins.
