ITBS problems

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has had this happen and how long it took to recover.

My daughter was playing in a regional basketball game and after the game was over she discovered her knee...well right below an to the outside of her knee was very swollen. She never noticed this injury before and didn't have any idea when it happened during the game.

She originally was dx with a ruputured bursa...3 weeks later, she can play basketball but when that area sustains a blow either by hitting the floor or by another player running into it it swells and becomes painful again.

Went for an MRI and it shows significant swelling in the bursa area and ITBS inflammation.

She had a steriod injection as she has a really important basketball game in the next 10 days and another important tournament in 2.5 weeks.

Anyhow has anyone had ITBS from a tramua to the area and how did it go for you? And any suggestions. Oh I forgot she is going to a Physical Therapist
