Knee pain when leg is straight

 

Question: Knee pain when leg is straight

Hey,
I'm hoping someone can help please....

I've been getting sharp pain at the front of my knee (deep inside) when my leg is fully extended, ie doing planks and press ups.. and also after exercise.

I cant do straight leg dead lifts as i get the same sharp pain. I also get it when doing my hamstrings on the foam roller.

Does anyone have any idea what would cause this?

Had it checked and there's no structural damage.

I am an Australian Kinesiologist/sports therapist

A lot of the stuff you are doing are things the muscles are not meant to be doing. our system was designed to walk, occasionally run, eat what nature intended us to eat, and drink water. I mean, straight leg dead lifts, where in nature do we ever employ things like that!!!
I think most people reading your querie would say; He's overdone it.
And right they would be! You simply have overdone it.

I recommend 4000 mg of vitamin C a day, taken in small doses during the day. this will make the system manufacture collagen, necessary for the repair of connective tissue like tendons and ligaments.
Your problem is related to torn fibers in the muscles and damage to the tendons and ligaments.

Don't do those particular exercises and slow right down on others.

There's some good advice here, but I would also say go and get it checked out properly before you put any more pressure on it. Knees are very delicate and can be ruined for life if pushed too far. The main rule when exercising is if it hurts, stop it.
