After a few miles cycling I get a burning pain accross my shoulder blades. This worsens and feels like I'm being stabbed in the shoulder. It hurts to move my head especialy to the right, with the pain worse in the right shoulder. I am not stretched or leaning on the bike and am otherwise comfortable. The spcialist shop I bought the bike from recommended a handle bar riser which I think improves it but not much. I never had this problem when I was younger, it first started at 26 when I cycled about 150 miles in three days for charity. I was well prepared fitness wise but rarely cycled more than 20 miles at a time. Now I am fit and well, and normally cycle once a week, about 5 - 10 miles. Any suggestions welcome!

I would recommend you to have your spine checked by a registered chiropractor. I had the same problem while cycling, and went to see one. The problem was caused by dorsal fixations and cramped interscapular muscles. Three treatments did the work for me!
