Recovery excerises for post surgery of left knee cuadricipital tendon.

Question: Recovery excerises for post surgery of left knee cuadricipital tendon.

I am recovering from the cuadricipital tendon of my left knee which broke at the insertion with the patella . This tendon teared from the patella playing football twice. First in 2007 and after 1 year recovery, and October last year I again suffered the same injury. This time the patella was also damaged. It did not break but some of the metal inserts I had in the patella teared fragments of the patella itself. I have done aproximately 4 months with a Physiotherapist and I am starting to jog and also are doing some legs extensions with both legs with 20 kilos. What I find that the day after doing this excercise a slight pain appears below the patella in both knees (sometimes more in the non-injured knee). Is the leg extension a good recovery excercise for this type of injury? What other excercises do you recommend? Thak you.

Answer:

Hi info5 and welcome to SIB. Here's some advice from Antonio in our Facebook group, 'Quadricipital Tendon I would start with "quarter wall squats" with a 8-10" firm pilates ball inbetween my knees. Just because it is a Closed chain exercise and activates the muscles front and back to work together(co-Contraction) creating functional stabilization.'
