Speed in recovery with bilateral tibial stress fractues and bilateral stress periostitis.

Question: Speed in recovery with bilateral tibial stress fractues and bilateral stress periostitis.

I need help in speeding my recovery as training needs to begin by January for Boston. I haven't ran since the middle of middle of October. Fitness is slowly going. What can and can't I do? Does IMS, or ART or laser therapy help? Physio?

Hi
you should start to build your fitness by cycling which will place some stress on the shin bones without overloading them. Swimming will help with your overall fitness but won't help with the strenthening of the shin bones. Getting assessed for proper footwear and starting running either on a treadmill or running of soft ground can help reduce the impact on your shins. I am assuming you have started walking already. You definitely will need someone to write a training programme for you to increase your fitness level without overstressing the legs again.

Acupuncture, ultrasound and using a tuning fork with the correct frequency taped and left on the shins can also help(i'm not sure of the frequency but there should be something on the web)
