I have had knee discomfort for a while. When playing a lot of tennis, I sometimes, not always, have discomfort in the front middle of the knee and by the next day it will be all but gone. The other day, I had a hurt calf and was going after a ball that I had to stretch for, but should have been able to get to, however, I would have had to use my left calf to make the stop. I felt like it was going to tear, so I let up and drifted into a stop, but could not catch myself in time and went tumbling to the very hard court. I am 65 and play like I am 25. This hurt and I got two big half dollar bruise/scrapes on my knee, one just below and one above the area that hurts. This made the knee hurt more. It has been 2 days and it seems to be improving, but as long as I am upright, it does not seem to be to affect my movement too much if at all, and the range of motion seems to be ok. When It really hurts is when I go to sit down and at the moment of release just as I sit in the chair, it gives a very sharp pain. Then it is over. Also, when I sit back and raise my leg parallel to the floor and then let my lower leg bend towards the floor, when it gets almost parallel to the floor, it starts to hurt, but maybe not quite as badly.
Could you please explain what my injury might be and how long by natural healing I might expect it to take before the pain goes away. I am afraid that just as before, the injury could cause another injury. The last one cause around 5 others.
Thanks
