what causes unbearable quadriceps pain?

Question: what causes unbearable quadriceps pain?

After a good workout in the gym i am not able to walk for 5 days already, because of the quadriceps pain of the both legs.i am well trained and used to have a normal muscular pain after workouts. However, this is unbearable, limits my walking ability, particularly downstairs,it is painful to touch the leg.I cannot even lie down on my front.Iboprofen pills and gel didnt help. Also,it is far too long as for the normal muscular pain. What is it and how to treat it?
thanks.

Answer:

Go to the Emergency Room if you haven't already. Your symptoms sound a lot like compartment syndrome and Rhabdomyolysis. You should get your urine tested and your blood tested for CPK levels- rapid breakdown in muscle tissue that occurs with rhabdo can lead to kidney failure. This is serious and you can loose your leg, too. My husband had this 3 years ago and he was saved by a very good orthopedic surgeon.

From now on drink more water and electrolytes.
