What rehab exercises can I do for lumbar hernias which will not cause pain and help?

Question: What rehab exercises can I do for lumbar hernias which will not cause pain and help?

I was diagnosed with 2 lumbar hernias several years ago. Everyone keeps telling me I need to strengthen my lower back, but the only thing I can think of are abdominal exercises. But each time I try them, my back aches and the pain returns. I'm exhausted from not being able to do anything! HELP!

Answer:

HI

ABDOMINAL EXERCISES ARE NOT ENOUGH. AS AMATTER OF FACT TOO INTENSE EXERCISES CAN HAVE ADVERSE EFFECT ON THE LUMBER HERNIAS.

TRY GRADUAL OVER ALL STRENGHTENING OF THE MUSCLES AROUND THOSE AREAS USING THE NEUROMUSCULAR EQUIPMENT TO BALANCE ALL THE MUSCLES, WHICH MEANS ANTERIOR, POSTERIOR AND LATERAL MUSCLES WITH STRETCHINGS FOR FLEXIBILTY EXERCISES, ESPECIALLY WITH PRE AND POST WORK OUTS.

WARM SHOWERS AND COMPLETE RESTS ARE ALSO ESSENTIAL FOR THE BODY TO HEAL AFTER THE ABOVE SUGGESTIONS.

HOPE THIS HELPS AND GOOD LUCK.

A J

Answer:

1st off al i would advice you to open your squares in the lombar area, release those muscles on just stretching your backs, try to hang or just bend on bed supporting as posible the weight on your hip to release the bakcs...depending on the kind of hernia, posterior, anterior, left or right proeminence you should adjust the stretching to feel as less pais as posible on the exercises...after you feel you released the muscular tension then you can slowly reenforce those muscles on suspension exercizes as much as posible, hanging or on traction...thats how i work them an dit seems to give very good result...i use an inversion table to work on lombar hernias from surfers to complement the aproach and have excelente results
