What is wrong with my knee?

Question: What is wrong with my knee?

I've been having pain in my right knee occasionally my left, for about 1-2 months now. Its when I run my right knee hurts. When I bend down it makes a crumple sound, which sounds brutal, and it sounds like rubbing little pebbles together. Its worse than a normal persons sound if they do so. Also when neal down, its hard to get back up, and I'm not heavy weighted. When I run upstairs it cracks alot. During my run,it starts to hurt it, and I cant finish or it hurts more. I've put ice on alot, and rested from track for awhile and it still hurts. What is Wrong? Should I see a doctor?

Answer:

Definitely. See a doctor about your knee. Depending on what state (or country) you live in, go to a physical therapist (PT) directly or with the prescription from your physician. you probably have significant hip weakness that has led to wear and tear to your knee. there are many factors that play into "what's wrong with (you)."

Age? Gender? Frequency and duration of running? Cross training? Previous injuries? Previous surgeries? General health? Smoker? The biggest factor is your mechanics while you're running?

Osteoarthritis, patellofemoral syndrome, or patellar chondromalacia may be your problem.

Bottom line: See a PT via your doc!
